Through our extensive involvement in works conducted throughout Australia, DTMT possess an awareness and understanding of the commitment required to the engagement and employment of Indigenous Australians. DTMT, as an Indigenous employer, recognises the importance of providing a supportive working environment for Indigenous Australians. We respect and consider the cultural, social and spiritual systems practiced by Indigenous Australians in our operations.
Our Contributions and Achievements
- In 2019 DTMT was acknowledged by BHP for adding social value at their South Flank project by engaging seven Indigenous businesses in three months and engaging in two Indigenous trainees through Carey Training.
- In 2014, DTMT was awarded the Indigenous Engagement Award by Rio Tinto’s Supplier Recognition Programme
- In both 2010 and 2012, DTMT won the Award of Recognition, acknowledging our outstanding support towards the PINGKU program. DTMT have been participating in the BHP PINGKU Indigenous Traineeship since 2008 on the RGP4, RGP5 and RGP6 projects. DTMT was first contractor to have mobilised PINGKU trainees to site and provide on-site mentors for support throughout the program

Lorrex Contracting
In August 2019, a partnering agreement was established to complete the construction of mine accesses roads at Rio Tinto’s Gudai-Darri site.
Lorrex Contracting Pty Ltd is an Indigenous company providing civil and mining services within the East Pilbara region of WA. Lorrex Civil and Mining was established in 2012 and is 100% owned by local Indigenous couple Lorraine and Rex Parker.
Hicks DTMT Joint Venture
Hicks DTMT JV is a joint venture between Hicks Civil and Mining and DTMT. In May 2014, the JV was awarded the NPI Facilities Earthworks contract at Rio Tinto’s Cape Lambert Port B (50MTPA+50MTPA) Project. Hicks Civil and Mining is a 100% family owned Aboriginal company located in Karratha in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia. It was established in 2010 by Peter Hicks and his wife Lisa. Hicks Civil and Mining is positioned as a provider of civil earthmoving and equipment hire.
